    The Designer
The Tupolev Design Bureau is one of the longest established and most experienced designers of aircraft in the world producing world-class aircraft designs since 1923. The company has seldom been away from the leading edge of technical innovation in the aviation world. The Tupolev designs have included every type of aircraft ranging from humble crop-dusters, through strategic bombers to supersonic civil transports, culminating in today’s Tu204 civil transport family which is based on the latest technological advances in the aerospace industry. With more than 5,000 design engineers, Tupolev is well positioned to play a full part in delivering the civil aircraft programs that the worldwide aircraft industry needs and relies on to grow and serve the needs of an ever expanding marketplace.
    The Manufacturer (Aviastar – SP)
The Aviastar aircraft assembly plant, built in the late 1980’s in Ulyanovsk, is the largest and most modern aircraft manufacturing plant in the CIS. The plant is extremely well equipped with state-of-the-art machinery from all over the world for the precision manufacturing of modern transport aircraft. Aviastar has unique experience and qualifications among manufacturers being one of the primary producers of the Antonov An124-200 ‘Ruslan’ – the world’s largest civil and military freighter. Aviastar has the capability to produce up to 72 Tu204’s per annum meeting current demand as well as forecast worldwide growth.
    The New Body
Today, the Russian Government, following the practices of the West, decided to consolidate the efforts of designer and manufacturer, and hence established “The New Tupolev Organization.” Tupolev has now become the mother company for both Aviastar-SP and Tupolev Design Bureau.
    The Company
Sirocco Aerospace International was established in 1996 as a sales and marketing vehicle for the Tupolev Tu204-120 aircraft and any of its derivatives with western engines. Sirocco executed ‘exclusive’ contracts with both Rolls-Royce and jointly Tupolev-Aviastar-Aviaexport. The latter contract recognizes Sirocco as the sole and exclusive buyer, seller, and marketer of the Tu204 and all its derivatives with non-Russian power-plants.
To bring greater stability and to strengthen its own position in the project, Sirocco has agreed a further major investment of up to $280 million with Tupolev, Aviastar, and the Russian Government, in exchange for 25%25 of both the manufacturer Aviastar-SP and“New Tupolev.” The new agreement identifies Sirocco’s new status as a ‘Strategic Partner’ replacing the previous ‘Buyer-Seller’ relationship with Tupolev and Aviastar. Today, Sirocco has in fact exercised its rights and acquired the 25 percent in Aviastar-SP and a share-pledge on Tupolev.

    Our First Product
The Tu204-120 aircraft offers the airline industry an excellent solution to the ‘medium-capacity – medium-range’ lift requirements of today and in the times to come. Apart from its advanced state-of-the-art technology, the Tu204-120 offers significantly lower operating and maintenance costs than its older technology competitors – and at a lower acquisition price with the further strong advantage of short order lead times.
Sirocco has invested significant funds in shaping the Tu204-120 to be a strong international competitor. Accordingly, the Tu204-120 aircraft incorporates much western technology ranging from its Rolls-Royce RB211-535E4B engines – the world’s most reliable – to avionics, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems. At the heart of the Tu204-120’s advanced, integrated navigation systems, is the Honeywell Inertial Reference System. Thanks to its advanced ‘ARINC 429’ digital data bus and other systems designed to meet ARINC requirements, Tu204-120 customer-airlines have a large number of important ‘options’ in terms of the westernization of other key navigation, control and flight management systems. The Tu204-120s digital ‘Fly-by-Wire’ and ‘Steer-by-Wire’ systems guarantee enhanced flight safety standards. In addition, the aircraft meets, or exceeds, the requirements of every currently known or planned international regulation concerning ambient noise and emissions levels.
But technology is not by itself any guarantee of satisfactory international market performance. In this regard, and to ensure the Tu204-120 can compete equally with its competitors, both used and new, Sirocco and its partners, Tupolev and Aviastar, are working closely with the European Aviation Safety Agency (formerly “Joint Airworthiness Authority” or “JAA”) to secure Type Validation of the Tu204-120. This powerful endorsement of the Tu204-120 by one of the two premier airworthiness authorities in the world will, in turn, permit the aircraft to enter and operate on the national registries of each country in the European Union as well as the many other non-EU countries which look to the JAA for guidance.

    The Engines
Since engine reliability has a powerful effect on revenue-earning performance and aircraft operating costs, Tupolev selected the Rolls-Royce RB211-535E4B engine as the sole power-plant on the Tu204-120/120C aircraft. This engine is simply the most reliable aircraft engine ever produced. The fleet lead engines have recently passed the historic level of 40,000 hours on wing without overhaul – a new industry benchmark for reliability and maintenance cost reduction. Furthermore, the RB211-535E4B is not only the world’s quietest, cleanest and most reliable engine in its class, but it also has the lowest operating and maintenance costs per flight hour.
    An Emerging Market Profile
Sirocco has firm orders for the Tu204-120 Cargo Aircraft from two of the most important airlines in the People’s Republic of China – Air China and China Eastern Airlines. The Tu204-120C is also currently in full-time revenue operation in Western Europe with package carrier – TNT. Entering service with Air China in 2007 and China Eastern in 2007/2008, the Tu204-120 will be afforded an ideal ‘shop window’ opportunity to demonstrate its attractiveness to other airlines in the region. The TNT operation has shown beyond any doubt that the Tu204-120C is a most durable, reliable and efficient freighter, and Sirocco was awarded the Operator of the Year. TNT has received much positive feedback from its freight-shipping customers for its selection of the brand-new, unique Tu204-120C, which has given TNT a distinct and positive brand image. This bodes well for the Tu204-120’s future.

With the predicted strong demand for aircraft in the general category of the Tu204-120 over the next fifteen to twenty years, Sirocco has, in the Tu204-120, a strong contender with unique advantages to capture a significant share in the overall global market.
    &main2=Cairo Aviation
Cairo Aviation is an aircraft charter company, operating three Tu204-120 passenger aircraft and two Tu204-120C all-cargo aircraft on dry lease basis from mother company Sirocco Aerospace International. The Tu204-120 is the main core of Cairo Aviation’s fleet due to its unique combination of highly advanced airframe design by Tupolev, the world’s most reliable and environmentally friendly engines by Rolls-Royce, and exceptional dispatch reliability coupled with low operating costs.
Based in Cairo International Airport, the aircraft mainly operate on international routes to various destinations in Europe, Africa and the Middle East.
Being a wholly-owned subsidiary to Sirocco Aerospace International, Cairo Aviation was a test vehicle for the Tu204-120 aircraft when it first entered service. Sirocco was testing many aspects of designed-versus-actual operating costs, dispatch reliability, noise and emissions levels, and component wear and tear, among many other things. Thrilled with the results, Sirocco began aggressive sales and marketing efforts for its aircraft.
In March of 2002 and then in June of the same year, two Tu204-120C cargo aircraft began flying for package-carrier TNT under a wet lease agreement between Sirocco Aerospace International and TNT, where Cairo Aviation handles all operations, maintenance, and logistics for all the TNT Tu204-120C aircraft out of Liege, Belgium. To put this agreement into effect, Cairo Aviation underwent a vigorous and successful audit by the British Civil Aviation Authority.
